Sogou Updates Browser with Recommendation Feature
Sohu IT, 7/10/13
Chinese internet firm Sohu's (Nasdaq: SOHU) online search subsidiary Sogou released the beta version of a new "smart" Sogou Browser today, which integrates Sogou's recommendation engine feature directly into the browser. The recommendation engine suggests content related to the page currently being viewed by users at the bottom left-hand side of the browser. For example, if a user is reading a news story online, the engine will recommend related photos and news stories, allowing users to continue searching the topic without the need to open a search box or input keywords. Similarly, while shopping online, the user will receive price comparison information at the bottom of the browser. When a user searches for a video, the engine will not only provide a link to the video source, but reviews and comments on the video as well. Sogou's recommendation engine feature currently offers only recommendations related to news, shopping, movies and videos, comics, gaming, and travel content, but will expand to cover more content in the future.
