DoNews, 7/09/13
Hangzhou-based Kuaizhi Technology, developer of mobile taxi-booking app Kuaidi Dache, recently announced that the company will soon release self-service taxi-booking terminals, which will be installed in heavy traffic public areas, such as office buildings, movies theaters, and malls. 2,000 devices will initially be released throughout major cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou, possibly as soon as the end of this month.
The taxi-booking terminals feature LCD displays measuring two meters high and 0.5 meters wide. The devices run on an Android-based operating system and come equipped with Kuaidi Dache software, which functions in the same way as the mobile version of Kuaidi Dache. When booking a taxi through the device, passengers can use the app's GPS functionality or voice recognition software to provide location information.
Kuaidi Dache was launched in August 2012 and currently has nearly 5 mln registered users, including 200,000 taxi drivers, and covers almost 30 cities across China. The app receives an average of around 150,000 taxi booking requests daily. Kuaizhi Technology currently has partnerships with Chinese digital map providers AutoNavi (Nasdaq: AMAP) and Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) Maps, Baidu's online travel services subsidiary Qunar, and Beijing's unified '96106' taxi-booking platform.
