DoNews, 6/17/13
According to an industry source, Beijing-based mobile game developer Royal River Network Technology has won funding from online game developer and operator Giant Interactive's (NYSE: GA) "Win@Giant" angel investment plan, becoming the first mobile game developer to win funding from the plan.
Royal River's first product is a 2D mobile strategy game called Hanmo Qunxiong, which has begun open beta testing on numerous Android gaming platforms. An average of 8% of players on each platform charged their game accounts on the first day of open beta testing, and the game had been downloaded over 50,000 times on some of the platforms after a few days of open beta testing.
Royal River was founded in 2012 by former employees from such companies as internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK), Sohu's (Nasdaq: SOHU) online game developer and operator Changyou (Nasdaq: CYOU), and Japanese online game developer Koei.
