Taobao to Crack Down on Counterfeit Goods in June

Ebrun, 5/29/13

At the end of May, Hangzhou-based C2C & B2C e-commerce site Taobao will begin a month-long focused cleanup of counterfeit items on its site. The crackdown will target athletic footwear, women's footwear, handbags and leather accessories, and popular women's and men's bags, among other product categories, and cover brands including Nike, Adidas, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Dior, Chanel, and Chinese brands such as Belle, Tata, Teenmix, and Staccato.

Taobao says it will fine sellers 24 points for counterfeit products. If sellers wish to appeal the fines, they may provide evidence for their case through the Taobao Seller Center within 15 days of the ruling. Successful appeals will result in a return of the deducted points.
