TechWeb, 5/07/13
Li Mingyuan, GM of Chinese internet company Baidu's (Nasdaq: BIDU) cloud division, has announced that Baidu will launch a new security product on May 9 covering the mobile security market. Baidu began small-scale beta testing of the new "Baidu Security Manager" product in April.
The new product uses anti-virus technology from U.S.-based mobile security company TrustGo, which was acquired by Baidu in February 2013, and provides mobile handset accelerator, virus sweeper, data usage control, data privacy and other features.
Baidu has previously released a PC anti-virus product with anti-virus software developer Kaspersky.
