iTunes Approves China Mobile's Voice Assistant

Jiang Tao, vice president of Chinese voice recognition software firm Anhui USTC iFlytek (002230.SZ), recently revealed that the iOS version of China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) "Lingxi" (literally "Quick on the Uptake") mobile voice assistant, powered by iFlytek's voice assistant software, was resubmitted for release on Apple's iTunes App Store on April 3. The app was approved and released on April 16. This comes after approval for the client was previously denied multiple times. Another of iFlytek's voice assistant products, Xunfei Yu Dian, has also been approved and added to the iTunes App Store.
Addressing the possible competition the two products may pose for one another, Jiang said that the market for voice assistant products had yet to be saturated. Jiang added that the two products target different user groups, and that both are still in the user acquisition stage.
China Mobile released the Android version of Lingxi on December 5, 2012 for commercial trials, with full commercial release yet to come.
