Huawei to Establish Mobile Game Open Platform
C114, 4/11/13
At the 8th annual Global Mobile Game and Channels Conference (GGCC) on April 10 in Beijing, Liu Cheng, VP of Huawei Device's cloud services business unit, said that the Chinese mobile device maker will establish a Huawei Device Developer Alliance in May 2013. By the end of this year, Huawei Device hopes to foster the development of a game bringing in monthly revenues of more than RMB 10 mln.
Huawei Device's "Zhi Hui Yun" app store has 40 mln registered users and roughly 2.5 mln daily active users at present, Liu said, and serves roughly 4 mln downloads per day. Huawei's game center app has an installed base of 10 mln users and 1 mln daily active users, with roughly 1.5 mln downloads per day. In hopes of making its mobile game platform more successful, Liu said, Huawei is preparing to open up more low-level capabilities and services.
In addition to its ability to provide push services, Huawei also offers a nationwide, 46-node distribution network with 600 Gbps of bandwidth, allowing game developers to avoid having to develop their own download centers or CDN-based distribution mechanisms by simply storing their products on Huawei's storage platform.
In the area of online payments, Huawei will work with all three major telecom operators and with third-party payment processing services, and has already connected its platform to all major banks' networks. Huawei's mobile-oriented business intelligence (BI) backend system will help game developers more precisely recommend games to mobile terminal users.
