Baidu Mobile Map Integrates 'Didi Dache' Taxi Booking Service
Sohu IT, 4/10/13
Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has released iOS version 4.7.0 of the company's Baidu Maps mobile application, integrating location-based taxi hailing services from mobile taxi booking app Didi Dache into the new version of the app. According to Didi Dache's head of media relations, Zhuo Ran, the company began the process of integrating its app with Baidu Maps in 2012, and started beta testing of the integrated features in early 2013. Because Didi Dache has yet to post a profit, the company has not begun revenue sharing discussions with Baidu, but would not rule out the possibility that partner Baidu app developers such as Didi Dache would share revenue with Baidu in the future, explained Zhuo.
The latest version of the Baidu Maps iOS app only supports taxi hailing services in Beijing, and the Android version of the app has yet to incorporate such services.
According to Wang Weijiang, CEO of rival mobile taxi booking app Yaoyao Zhaoche, the company is still engaged in discussions with Baidu about a possible partnership, but has yet to come to a cooperation agreement.
