LeTV, Foxconn Unveil Super TV

Chinese online video and Internet TV content provider LeTV (Leshi) (300104.SZ) announced during a press conference today that Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn (2038.HK; 2354.TW) will be the manufacturer for the company's "LeTV Super TV." Zhang Zhiwei, former GM of Beijing-based B2C e-commerce platform 360Buy, has officially joined LeTV as "LeTV vice president," overseeing the launch of the company's "LeTV Super TV" and related services.
LeTV and Foxconn have entered into a strategic partnership whereby Foxconn will provide all hardware solutions for LeTV's "LeTV Super TV" and internet set-top box (STB) products. Furthermore, the two companies will establish a JV in order to expand into the overseas market for smart TVs. Foxconn has signed an exclusive agreement with LeTV to not manufacture any products similar to the ones it manufactures for LeTV for any internet company other than LeTV.
LeTV vice chairman and COO Liu Hong stated that the company is planning on creating an integrated "platform+content +terminal+app" LeTV ecosystem.
