New7 to Operate Lakala's Flagship Store on TMall
Ebrun, 2/28/13
Beijing-based e-commerce site operator New7 Technology, operator of electrical appliance B2C New7.com, recently took over operation of Chinese e-payment service company Lakala's flagship store on Alibaba Group's B2C e-commerce site TMall (http://lakala.tmall.com). The store, which mainly sells Lakala card readers and other peripheral products, had previously been operated by Lakala itself. The name of the operator has already been changed to New7, which will assume all operations for the store in the future.
Lakala will be the fifth TMall store operated by New7. In addition to operating its own store of the same name on TMall, New7 has also set up and operated stores for Chinese and international appliance brands Yadu, Skyworth (0751.HK), Rocketfish (a Best Buy brand), and LG.
New7 said that it plans to ramp up its outsourced store operation services this year, expanding to operate around 13 stores. The company will also increase headcount from about 100 employees at present to 150.
New7 had operating revenues of RMB 880 mln for 2012, including RMB 320 mln in revenues from New7.com and RMB 560 mln in revenues from stores operated for other companies. Outsourced store operations have outstripped New7's own B2C business to account for 65% of the company's total revenues.
