TCL, Future Television, Tencent Launch Smart TV QQ App
Tencent Tech, 2/25/13
Chinese television manufacturer TCL Multimedia (1070.HK), internet giant Tencent (0700.HK), and Future Television, the internet TV subsidiary of CCTV's national online TV station CNTV, have partnered to release TCL 3D smart cloud TVs installed with QQ TV 2.0. Future Television will provide the internet TV license used in the partnership.
QQ TV 2.0 is a Tencent app developed for smart TVs. TCL 3D TVs will use the app's special face recognition technology to scan the user's face, enabling them to automatically log in to their QQ account when using the smart TV. Users can also use this technology to take photographs to share with friends and use as their QQ profile picture. QQ TV 2.0 supports video chat between multiple platforms, including PCs, mobile phones, tablets, and the iCE Screen entertainment cloud tablet jointly launched by TCL and Tencent. All of these functions can be operated using the TCL smart TV remote control.
