MIIT Simplifies Consumer Subsidy Policy on Energy Saving Appliances

ChinaNews, 2/19/13

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced that the Ministry will simplify the process for consumers to receive subsidies for energy-saving home appliance purchases, guaranteeing that consumers will be able to redeem subsidies immediately after purchasing a home appliance. Under the new policy, consumers need only present a copy of their ID card and receipt to appliance retailers immediately following purchase to receive a subsidy. The previous policy required consumers to return to the same store several days after purchase to receive a subsidy.

According to the MIIT, the new program is designed to combat fake subsidy claims.
