Suning to Restructure B2C Site
Tencent Tech, 1/28/13
Chinese consumer electronics and home appliances retailer Suning's (002024.SZ) B2C e-commerce site Suning.com said recently that it will complete a round of structural adjustments after the mid-February Chinese New Year holiday. Adjustments will include the separation of Suning.com's open platform business from its procurement and sales units, as well as the integration of procurement systems for Suning.com and its physical retail parent Suning Appliances into a single platform in order to achieve economies of scale. Some of the company's departments will be expanded as part of the restructuring, becoming "centers," while functional departments will be more finely differentiated. The number of Suning.com employees is set to double in 2013.
An industry source says that Suning.com is planning to set up general goods and group buy systems. Suning.com will comprise four divisions following the restructuring: general goods procurement and sales, group buy, open platform, and home appliances.
