360Buy Splits Group Buy from Open Platform Business

Beijing-based B2C e-commerce platform 360Buy has announced that the company will spin-off its group buy business into an independent business unit under 360Buy. According to an internal 360Buy release, in order to meet the company's operating strategy and development needs, 360Buy has decided to separate its group buy unit from its POP (Plan of Open Platform) open platform business. Former 360Buy open platform VP Zhang Shouchuan has been appointed as VP in charge of 360Buy's group buy business. Zhang will report to 360Buy CMO Lan Ye. Lan will be temporarily responsible for 360Buy's POP open platform business.
According to a source close to the company, after its spin-off from the open platform group, 360Buy's group buy business will begin to operate on a new independent platform model.
