Netease Tech, 1/05/13
Yu Linguang, CEO of Beijing-based online matchmaking site operator Jiayuan.com (Nasdaq: DATE), has revealed that company quietly released an online browser game channel (game.jiayuan.com) in mid-December. According to Yu, "The goal of our new browser game channel is to keep users within the Jiayuan network. Revenue from gaming is still very limited, and there is no link yet to the Jiayuan gaming channel on the Jiayuan.com homepage." At present, Jiayuan jointly operates turn-based side-scrolling MMORPG Shenxian Dao and side-scrolling browser game Blood King Someday, among other browser games, on its gaming portal.
Jiayuan has also released an online reading channel (book.jiayuan.com). The majority of Jiayuan online reading content is provided free to users, with content rights purchased by Jiayuan. The amount of content available on Jiayuan's reading channel is still relatively limited.
20% of Jiayuan traffic originates from mobile devices, according to Yu.
