Douban Introduces LBS Product

Chinese arts and music SNS Douban released a new beta product, "Zhoubian Shenghuo" ("Neighborhoods," unofficial translation), for users in Beijing and Shanghai today.
"Neighborhoods" aims to help Douban users find events and entertainment and dining venues in their neighborhoods. By "Neighborhood," Douban refers mainly to a ten-minute travel radius around users, which it labels as users' "turf" - for example, the adjacent Zhongguancun and Wudaokou neighborhoods of Beijing's Haidian district. Users can choose their own neighborhood from a list.
After activating the service, users will be able to see content shared by nearby users - most of it relating to entertainment and lifestyle services, including updates on new movies in nearby theatres, new discounts, new items for sale in nearby small businesses, and open lectures at nearby universities.
