Baidu Browser Adds Broken-image Replacement Feature
China Daily, 12/13/12
Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) added a helpful new feature to its web browser today: the ability to replace broken image links. Currently, when internet users encounter images in blog posts or on discussion forums that have expired or been removed, the images are replaced by "broken image" placeholders. The new Baidu browser will automatically attempt to "sniff out" the image link, compare the data against the search engine's image database, and automatically replace the broken image with a cached or remote image.
The browser also features an "Related Images Recommendation" feature that will scan webpages for image data and instantaneously find related or matching image resources, allowing users to view related or additional images, including images from the same photographer, images featuring the same model, or images taken in the same location.
