DoNews, 12/05/12
Lei Ming, CEO of Chinese music software company Kuwo, announced on December 5 that Kuwo will break even for 2012. The company's revenues are currently split between advertising and game revenue, with the latter growing quickly. Lei said that Kuwo will make developing a game platform an area of focus in 2013.
In the future, Lei said, Kuwo will combine its free and paid value-added services, with free services to be supported by ad and game revenues, and paid value-added services to include higher-quality audio and music downloading services.
Kuwo will begin introducing paid services in 2013, Lei said. The company already has payment systems in place, and provides paying subscribers with higher-quality audio downloads, HD music videos, and other services.
Kuwo released the 2013 edition of its software client today for the Windows 8, Mac OS, and Windows Phone platforms. A new "Kuwo K" feature allows users to purchase gifts for singers. Kuwo believes that this feature could become a new source of revenues for the company.
