Coship Launches STB, Smartphone

Chinese developer and manufacturer of satellite receivers and cable and terrestrial set-top boxes (STBs) Coship Electronics (002052.SZ) yesterday announced the release of its "Fei Kan" set-top box, "Fei Phone" ("Fly Phone") smartphone, and its "Fei Fei Kan" split-screen social TV application.
The Android 4.0 STB has a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, dual-based 5.8GHz/2.4GHz bi-directional high-speed wireless router, 1080p HD video output, intelligent voice recognition controls, and multi-screen interactive technology compatible with Airplay, Miracast, Bluetooth, and DLNA devices. The STB streams content from Zhejiang-based DTV and IPTV operator Wasu Media Holding's (000156.SZ) broadcast and control platform, and supports synchronized multi-screen display on handsets, tablets, and TV sets using Coship's "Yingxiang" ("Reflection") technology.
The dual-SIM dual-standby Android 4.1 "Fly Phone" features a dual-core CPU and dual-core VPU, 2GB of RAM, either 16GB or 32GB of storage, an accelerometer, auto-brightness detection, and auto-locks when the user puts the phone to their ear. The phone also supports 1080p video recording and playback on a 1280x720 4.7-inch Sharp IPS HD display, and dual-band 2.4GHz/5GHz Wi-Fi.
