Tudou Revamps Music Channel
CCID, 12/04/12
Chinese online video site Tudou.com, operated by Youku Tudou (NYSE: YOKU), released an updated version of the company's Tudou music channel today. The revamped version of the channel has added the following features:
Playlist Ranking - The playlist ranking feature displays the most popular user playlists and allows for on-demand listening of playlists from other users. The feature allows users to "like" specific songs within each playlist, which in turn will affect the overall ranking of a playlist.
Music Charts - The music chart feature aggregates the most popular songs from the US (Billboard), UK, Korea (MNET), and Tudou, providing links to a music video for each song.
Song Seeker - The song seeker feature gives users notifications and access to new songs, concerts, and interviews from their favorite artists, after signing into Tudou and following an artist.
The Tudou music channel interface has also undergone redesign, with a cleaner arrangement of content and use of Tudou's traditional orange color to accent selected and other content. Tudou's own popular song aggregator page has installed a cascading feature where scrolling down the "popular songs list" page will continue to produce a list of popular songs, instead of reaching the bottom of the page.
Tudou plans to create four music platforms in the future, an "Enjoy Music" platform, a "Talent Show" style platform, a "Micro-Music Video" platform, and a "Professional Music Promotion" platform.
