Netease Youdao Cloud Storage Users Exceeds 8 Mln

Chinese Internet firm Netease's (Nasdaq: NTES) Youdao Cloudnote (note.youdao.com) service recently launched an upgraded 3.0 version, with corresponding new clients for PC, iOS, and Android, as well as a new Web platform. The updated version has added new features including a to-do-list calendar and an option to revert to previous versions of the client. The new version of Cloudnote has also adopted a new UI design. According to Jian Weihang, head of Youdao Cloudnote, Youdao Cloudnote users have already surpassed 8 mln.
The first version of Youdao Cloudnote was released in June of 2011, with users surpassing 3 mln in May of 2012 and reaching 5 mln by September. Users surpassed 8 mln in November of this year, with daily active users reaching 450,000.
Netease senior vice president Zhou Feng has stated that Youdao Cloudnote will continue to serve as a personal cloud storage service, and that in the future the company plans to make large investments in features that Chinese users have been accustomed to using such as handwriting input and social media sharing. Zhou also noted that Youdao Cloudnote would continue to be open and secure, allowing customers to freely import and export data. Currently, 25% of Youdao Cloudnote users are registered through third-party accounts.
Zhou also revealed that Youdao's Youdao Dictionary product is on the verge of becoming profitable.
