China Unicom, HTC Launch Two WP8 Smartphones

China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) and HTC today officially unveiled two Windows Phone 8 smartphone models, the HTC 8X, priced at RMB 3,999, and the HTC 8S, priced at RMB 1,999.
China Unicom's operator-customized HTC 8S will be available with 2-year and 3-year prepaid calling credit contracts and sold separately with no calling plan. Users who sign a two-year contract can receive the smartphone at no additional cost with a RMB 2,399 calling credit deposit and RMB 156 monthly fee; those who choose the three-year plan will receive the handset with a RMB 2,399 deposit and RMB 126 monthly fee. Users can also pay RMB 1,999 for the smartphone and sign a two-year contract with a monthly fee of RMB 46 or more to receive between RMB 400-5,800 in calling credit.
China Unicom users can purchase the HTC 8X for RMB 3,999 and sign a two-year contract with a monthly fee of RMB 46 or more to receive between RMB 400-5,800 in calling credit.
According to HTC, the two smartphones are the first HTC models to support China Unicom's 21Mbps HSDPA+ high-speed wireless broadband network, which currently covers 77 cities.
