China to Establish National Online Shopping Supervision System

At a November 27 meeting in Hangzhou for online market supervisors for industrial and commercial systems from around the country, Gan Lin, deputy director of China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC), revealed that the government will develop a "unified national oversight and management system for online product transactions" in H1 2013. The system will provide oversight and control over major online shopping platforms and online stores, and will contain tools necessary for amassing evidential data for criminal cases.
