Xianguo Rolls Out Open Content Platform
Xianguo.com, 11/23/12
Chinese RSS reader and feed sharing site operator Beijing Zhixin Huanyu Technology (Xianguo.com) has launched an open platform for content, allowing content providers and copyright holders to manage their own content on Xianguo.com.
The platform enables content providers to manage licensed content, topics, and channels in specialized sections they define and design themselves, as well as providing data analytics functionality. Xianguo founder Liang Gongjun said content providers will eventually be able to embed advertising and offer premium reading content, and Xianguo will only provide a regulated environment and otherwise not interfere.
Xianguo has cooperated with content providers before, partnering with Tencent (0700.HK) for live coverage of the iPhone 5 launch, and with Elle to cover Fashion Week in New York, London, Paris, and Milan, as well as with Marie Claire to cover the reality TV singing competition The Voice of China. At the time of the open platform launch, Xianguo had over 20 content partners across print, online and new media as well as mobile app content platforms, including business new portals Caixin.com and Huxiu.com and Q&A community Zhihu.com.
