Juhuasuan to Launch "Ladder Rebate" Promotion

On December 3, Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group's Juhuasuan group buying platform will launch a week-long "Annual 123 Gala" at which it will debut its new "ladder rebate" marketing technique, which will decrease product prices in inverse proportion to the number of paying customers for the product. Juhuasuan's plans call for prices on participating products - with the exception of categories including gold, 3C goods, and cosmetics - to be the lowest internet-wide for the three months prior to the sale.
Juhuasuan GM Zhang Yu said that the group buy site processed RMB 1.79 bln in transactions during its November 11 "Singles' Day" sale, with roughly 16 mln unique visitors. 23 merchants received more than RMB 10 mln worth of orders, and 79 merchants received more than RMB 5 mln in orders on November 11, and Juhuasuan drove RMB 10 bln in offline sales.
