Juhuasuan Introduces C2B Group Buy Model
Ebrun, 11/20/12
Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group's Juhuasuan group buying platform quietly launched a new sub-site, "Ju Xiangtuan" (tuan.taobao.com) recently. The new "C2B" site allows customers to join together based on common interests to request group buy deals from merchants, with merchants choosing whether or not to offer group buy deals at the requested price in a reversal of the ordinary group buy model.
The Ju Xiangtuan homepage is divided into three sections: "Buy," "Wanted," and "Request Deal." At present, the site offers deals on food, apparel, handbags, shoes and accessories, cosmetics, jewelry, home furnishings, baby- and mother-care items, and other products. "Buy" lists group buy deals currently available for purchase; "Wanted" lists deals that merchants have agreed to offer, but which need more buyers to commit to a purchase in order to become available; and "Request Deal" lists products for which customers may request group buy deals.
