Baidu Revamps Search Trends Site
Sina Tech, 11/16/12
Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has quietly launched open beta testing on a new version of the company's "top.baidu.com" search trends page. The site ranks popular searches and web content on Baidu's search engine, updating in real time. The beta version of the site was launched under the domain "i.top.baidu.com."
The new version of the site had repositioned its navigation bar from the left site to the right side of the page, moving its real-time search trends to a more visible location than on the left side of the page. The new version of the site has expanded the number of trending search categories covered on its home page. The beta version now provides real-time search figures on search query volume related to film, television, arts & entertainment, anime, and more.
The new version of the site includes updated photos related to each search trend, where the original site contained only text. The "location" and "groups" search trends filters have been greatly expanded in the new i.top.baidu site, allowing users to view search trends as filtered by user location, age, and gender.
According to Baidu, the data for the company's search trends page is based on natural search data from users and is not affected by advertiser purchases.
