Sina Posts Q3 2012 Profit of USD 10 Mln

Chinese internet company Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) has released its financial results for the three months ended September 30, 2012. Q3 2012 revenue was USD 152.4 mln, up 17.0% YoY from USD 130.3 mln for the same period last year.
Net income attributable to Sina for the third quarter of 2012 was USD 9.9 mln, as compared to a net loss attributable to Sina of USD 336.3 mln for the same period last year.
Online advertising revenues for the third quarter of 2012 were USD 120.6 mln, up 19.4% YoY from USD 101.0 mln for the same period last year. Non-advertising revenues for the third quarter of 2012 totaled USD 31.8 mln, an increase of 8.5% YoY USD 29.3 mln for the same period last year. Wireless value-added services revenues for the third quarter of 2012 amounted to USD 19.1 mln, down 10.7% YoY USD 21.4 mln for the same period last year.
In Q3 2012, according to Sina CEO Charles Chao, advertising revenues for the company's Weibo microblog service doubled from the previous quarter. Sina also began revenue sharing with application developers during the quarter. The number of registered Sina Weibo microblogging accounts surpassed 400 mln during the London Olympics in August.
Sina estimates that its non-GAAP net revenues for the fourth quarter of 2012 will be between USD 132 mln and USD 136 mln. Advertising revenues for Q4 2012 are estimated to be between USD 110 mln and USD 112 mln, representing a YoY increase between 6% and 8%, and non-GAAP non-advertising revenues to be between USD 22 mln and USD 24 mln, representing a YoY decrease between 4% and 12%.
