Dangdang Q3 2012 Losses Grow to RMB 100 mln

Chinese B2C e-commerce site Dangdang (NYSE: DANG) has announced its financial results for the three months ended September 30, 2012. Q3 2012 net revenues were RMB 1.29 bln (USD 204.9 mln), a 41.7% increase YoY from the corresponding period in 2011.
Net loss was RMB 100.1 mln (USD 15.9 mln), as compared with a net loss of RMB 73.4 mln in the corresponding period in 2011. The growing net loss was attributed to the increase in cost of revenues and the increase in fulfillment and technology expenses.
Media product revenue for the third quarter of 2012 was RMB 849.9 mln (USD 135.2 mln), representing a 32.9% increase YoY from the corresponding period in 2011. General merchandise revenue for the third quarter of 2012 was RMB 397.4 mln (USD 63.2 mln), representing a 55.9% increase YoY from the corresponding period in 2011. Other revenue, including revenue from third-party merchants, for the third quarter of 2012 was RMB 40.3 mln (USD 6.4 mln), representing a 183.4% increase YoY from the corresponding period in 2011.
Dangdang had approximately 7.0 mln active customers for the whole platform in the third quarter of 2012, representing a 26.4% increase YoY from the corresponding period in 2011. Total orders for the whole platform for the third quarter of 2012 were approximately 13.9 mln, a 29.1% increase YoY from the corresponding period in 2011.
Dangdang expects its total net revenues in the fourth quarter of 2012 to be around RMB 1.61 bln (or USD 265 mln).
