NetEase Q3 2012 Profit Down 1.7% YoY

Chinese internet company NetEase (Nasdaq: NTES) has released its unaudited financial results for the third quarter of 2012. Q3 2012 total revenues were RMB 2.0 bln (USD 325.4 mln), flat compared to revenue of RMB 2.0 bln for both Q2 2012 and Q3 2011.
Net profit for the quarter totaled RMB 811.9 mln (USD 129.2 mln), a decrease of 7.2% QoQ and 1.7% YoY from RMB 875.3 mln and RMB 825.8 mln in Q2 2012 and Q3 2011, respectively.
Revenues from online games were RMB 1.7 bln (USD 276.8 mln), compared to RMB 1.7 bln and RMB 1.8 bln for the preceding quarter and the third quarter of 2011, respectively.
Revenues from advertising services were RMB 243.0 mln (USD 38.7 mln), up 19.0% QoQ and 10.2% YoY from RMB 204.2 mln and RMB 220.5 mln in Q2 2012 and Q3 2011, respectively.
Revenues from e-mail, wireless value-added services, and other services were RMB 61.9 mln (USD 9.9 mln), up 19.3% QoQ and 97.8% Yoy from RMB 51.4 mln and RMB 31.3 mln for the preceding quarter and the third quarter of 2011, respectively.
The company plans to launch 2.5D martial arts MMORPG Heroes of Tang Dynasty II, a comprehensive update of Heroes of Tang Dynasty, on November 16. In the coming months, NetEease plans to introduce two new games, 3D MMORPG Heroes of Three Kingdoms and 3D MMORPG Dragon Sword.
