Lmtw.com, 11/06/12
Chinese broadband provider Great Wall Broadband has announced an internet TV partnership with Hangzhou-based DTV and IPTV operator Wasu Digital Television Media Group and P2P streaming video platform PPLive (PPTV). The three companies plan to launch a broadband and over-the-top (OTT) bundled service package in Shanghai. The subscription-based service will bundle 20M internet access with internet TV services through PPTV's PPBOX set-top box (STB).
PPTV's PPBOX runs an Android system and supports 1080p video streaming. The PPBOX also supports DLNA interactive apps, video calling, and a host of downloadable and online games.
As a part of the agreement, PPTV will be responsible for OTT platform content, technology, and software. Wasu will provide the Internet TV license needed for operation, as well as broadcasting and policy support.
Wasu and PPTV announced their internet TV partnership earlier this year.
