Guangdong Abandons Government-Set Prices for Mobile Services

The Guangdong provincial government recently abolished the government-mandated local calling rates for mobile phones, meaning that future adjustments to calling rates by mobile operators will need only to be filed with the government beforehand, rather than requiring review and approval. The call rate review and approval process had formerly been the responsibility of provincial telecommunications authorities and price control departments.
