Ctrip Q3 2012 Revenue Up, Profit Down 40% YoY

Chinese online travel service provider Ctrip (Nasdaq: CTRP) has announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2012. Q3 2012 revenue was RMB 1.25 bln (USD 198 mln), representing a 20% increase YoY from Q3 2011.
Net income attributable to shareholders was RMB 194 mln (USD 31 mln), down 40% YoY.
Hotel reservation revenues amounted to RMB 457 mln (USD 73 mln) in Q3 2012, representing an 11% increase YoY, primarily driven by an increase of 40% in hotel reservation volume and partially offset by a decrease of 21% in commission per room night. The decrease of commission per room night was primarily due to promotional activities.
Air ticket booking revenues in Q3 2012 were RMB 478 mln (USD 76 mln), representing a 24% increase YoY, primarily driven by an increase in air tickets sales volume.
Packaged-tour revenues in Q3 2012 were RMB 224 mln (USD 36 mln), representing a 31% increase YoY.
Corporate travel revenues in Q3 2012 were RMB 54 mln (USD 9 mln), representing a 25% increase YoY, primarily driven by the increased corporate travel demand from business activities.
For the fourth quarter of 2012, the company expects net revenue to continue to grow at a rate of approximately 15-20% YoY.
