51Buy Offers Price Guarantee Targeting Rival 360Buy

On November 5, Chinese B2C e-commerce site 51buy, a subsidiary of Tencent (0700.HK), announced the start of a sale campaign targeting rival B2C platform 360Buy with guarantees of lower prices. Under the terms of the campaign, any customer who places an order with 51buy and subsequently discovers that the product cost more than it would have on 360Buy's platform will be able to submit a reimbursement claim to 51buy. Within 24 hours, 51buy customer service will review the claim and - if approved - pay the price difference into the customer's 51buy account in the form of 51buy points.
51buy CEO Bu Guangqi revealed that although the price guarantee is being introduced as a component of a promotional campaign, 51buy may consider making it permanent. 51buy is also offering two other guarantees, guaranteed fast delivery and guaranteed genuine products, both in response to perennial e-commerce customer complaints of slow delivery and counterfeit products during sales campaigns.
