5-Inch 'Dakele' Handset Receives 300,000 Pre-orders
Netease Tech, 9/27/12
Ding Xiuhong, founder of Beijing MornCloud Information and Technology and former Managing Editor at Netease (Nasdaq: NTES), has revealed details about the company's newly announced 'Dakele' handset brand and Dakele smartphone. According to Ding, the company will focus primarily on producing large-screen handsets. The company's first handset will be the 5" Dakele smartphone.
The Dakele smartphone will be released primarily through e-commerce platforms. MornCloud is currently in talks with e-commerce platforms QQ Mall and 360Buy, among other third party retailers, to sell the handset. MornCloud has received over 300,000 pre-orders for the handset from third-party retailers.
According to the company, the Dakele smartphone will come preinstalled only with high quality apps that will be of use to its customers. In addition, users can easily remove any unwanted apps from the handset.
Ding noted, "Although our business model shares some aspects with (Beijing-based Android handset developer) Xiaomi, our business philosophy, operations, and resources are entirely different. Strictly speaking, our direct competitor is the Samsung Note."
