Hisense Releases Android-based Smart TV OS

Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Hisense (600060.SH) today unveiled its Android TV Pro ("Hai An") smart TV OS version 1.2, developed in partnership with electronics manufacturing services provider Flextronics International. Hisense also released four smart TV models featuring the new OS - the XT880, K660, K610, and K360.
As part of the new OS to be released this quarter, Hisense optimized its Hisense Vision user interface, and has adopted new interoperability standards for remote controls to support voice and gesture control as well as facial recognition. Hisense has formed content partnerships with CCTV's national online TV station CNTV, Hangzhou-based DTV and IPTV operator Wasu Digital Television Media Group, Internet services and security software provider Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU), Sina (Nasdaq: SINA), 360Buy, China UnionPay-invested third-party payment firm Yinshitong Information Technology, and Shanghai-based financial information service provider and software developer Great Wisdom (601519.SH) to provide e-commerce, SNS, financial information, education, gaming, literature, and music services, with all applications and content customized and optimized for the platform.
Liu Hongxin, GM of Hisense, claimed that Android TV Pro is China's first standardized smart TV applications platform, and that moving forward all Hisense smart TV sets will feature the new OS.
