Mobile App Firms Protest Kingsoft's In-App Ad Blocking

Sina Tech, 9/14/12

19 mobile application developers and mobile advertising firms including Beijing-based mobile advertising platform operator Domob and Beijing-based mobile games developer CocoaChina/Chukong today issued a statement claiming that Kingsoft's (3888.HK) mobile anti-virus software is blocking in-app advertising, threatening their companies' business models and calling on Kingsoft to modify its software. Kingsoft Internet Security launched the Android version of its "Mobile Internet Security" app this month, and blocking in-app advertising is one of its key selling points. In-app advertising is a major source of revenue for domestic app developers and mobile advertising firms.
