Rumor: Lenovo to Acquire Brazilian Electronics Manufacturer

Brazilian financial news magazine Exame reported today that Chinese laptop, PC, and handset manufacturer Lenovo (0992.HK) will acquire Brazilian electronics manufacturer Comércio de Componentes Eletrônicos (CCE). Lenovo has already announced a press conference in Sao Paolo for September 5, with company chairman Yang Yuanqing to appear. Lenovo says the conference will announce the company's largest-ever deal in Brazil.
One of Brazil's largest OEMs, CCE had operating revenues of BRL 1.6 bln (USD 783 mln) in 2011. Products include DVD players, desktop and notebook computers, LCD displays, flat-panel PCs, mobile phones, and other electronic products.
In January 2011, Lenovo announced that it would enter the Japanese market through the acquisition of NEC's PC business. In August 2011, the company acquired the German electronics manufacturer Medion.
