Rumor: Shanda Games CEO Resigns
Sina Tech, 8/24/12
Alan Tan (Tan Qunzhao), chairman and CEO of Shanda Interactive's online game developer and operator subsidiary, Shanda Games (Nasdaq: GAME), will reportedly soon resign due to declining health over the past couple of years.
Tan was one of Shanda's founding members along with Chen Tianqiao in 1999. Tan became CTO in 2003 and in 2008 replaced Tang Jun as president of Shanda Interactive. After Shanda Games was spun off, Tan was appointed chairman of the new company and in 2010 also assumed the position of CEO with the departure of Li Yu.
According to Shanda, the company's senior management currently consists of Tan as chairman and CEO, Zhang Xiangdong as chief producer and COO, CFO Richard Wei (Wei Chengshu), CTO William Chen (Chen Feng), and Shanda Games' senior VP of business development Chien Tunghai. But the current reshuffling will reportedly see Chen reporting directly to Chien.
Shanda Games has yet to comment on the rumors of Tan's departure.
