Lenovo Q1 FY 2012/13 Profit Up 30% YoY

Chinese laptop, PC, and handset manufacturer Lenovo (0992.HK) has announced its financial results for Q1 FY 2012/13. For the quarter ended June 30, 2012 revenue was USD 8.01 bln, up 35.3% YoY from USD 5.92 bln a year before.
Profit for the period was USD 144.44 mln, a 33.3% increase YoY from USD 108.80 mln in Q1 FY 2012/13.
Revenue from the PC business was USD 7.14 bln, representing a year-on-year increase of 25%, while revenue from the Mobile Internet and Digital Home (MIDH) business, which was largely from mobile phone revenue in China, increased robustly by 173 percent year-on-year to USD 587 mln driven by the Group's effective PC+ strategy.
China sales accounted for 44% of total revenue. Sales in the Asia Pacific/Latin America (APLA) region (excluding China) accounted for 21% of revenue, while sales in Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA) accounted for 20% and North America sales accounted for 15%.
In Q1 FY 2012/13 Lenovo's total PC shipments grew 24% YoY to 12.8 mln units.
