Qihoo 360 Introduces Online Shopping Insurance
Donews, 7/11/12
Chinese online security software developer Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU) has released its own online shopping insurance yesterday, following the release of a similar product by People's Insurance Company of China (PICC) and Kingsoft Network Technology, Kingsoft's (3888.HK) anti-virus subsidiary. Qihoo 360 will provide up to RMB 36,000 in advance compensation to victims of online shopping fraud.
The service will be available via Internet Explorer, 360 Safe Browser, and 360 Ultrafast Browser, but will not support Kingsoft Network Technology's Cheetah Browser.
Fu Shengxing, CEO of Kingsoft Network Technology, welcomed Qihoo 360 to the online shopping insurance market.
Kingsoft Network Technology currently offers advance compensation for users of 26 different browsers, including Internet Explorer and Chrome, but none of Qihoo 360's browser products. Qihoo 360 began blocking the Kingsoft Web Shield product several years ago, according to Fu, and has refused requests to integrate Kingsoft's browser plugin, preventing Qihoo 360 browser users from using Kingsoft Network Technology's new online shopping insurance service or its Kingsoft Internet Security anti-virus software to block phishing sites.
