China's May 2012 Group Buy Transaction Volume Up 5% PoP

China's group buy transaction volume rose 4.7% PoP in May 2012, according to newly released figures from group buy directory site Tuan800, with the total number of group buy sites dropping to 2,996. 124,000 merchants offered group buy deals in May, with 40.06 mln consumers participating.
Of the 2,996 group buy firms, Tuan800 sampled 780 group buy sites operating under independent domain names, only 339 (43.5%) of which were considered "active" (at least one new offer each week).
Tuan800 also revealed that China's top 10 group buy sites - 58Tuan, FTuan, Gaopeng, Meituan, DianpingTuan, DidaTuan, Lashou, Manzuo, Nuomi and 55Tuan - combined accounted for more than 80% of the market.
