MoC Investigates Online Card, Board Game Gambling

Sina Games, 5/23/12

China's Ministry of Culture (MoC) recently announced it will carry out inspections of online card and board game websites in May and June nationwide following reports of illegal online gambling in provinces such as Zhejiang and Guangdong.

According to a spokesperson for the MoC's Cultural Markets Department, the investigation will examine the amount of virtual currency issued by gaming sites, their service charge accounting records, the daily win-loss limit for individual players, and their methods for monitoring virtual currency and game points transactions between players.

The investigation will comprise two phases, the first being company self-inspections to be concluded by June 10, followed by MoC inspections to end by June 30.
