Rumor: Mango Media Appoints New President

An industry source revealed recently that Ouyang Changlin, director of Hunan Broadcasting System (HBS), will retire at the end of this year, after which he will be replaced as chairman of HBS's new media and TV production subsidiary Mango Media by Chen Gang, who will also serve as the company's Party secretary. Zhang Yong will be named general manager of the company. Chen currently serves as chairman and general manager of Mango Media's TV and online shopping channel Happigo; Zhang Yong is currently chairman of Mango Media's television production company EE-Media.
According to the source, Mango Media plans to bring on strategic investors and to transition to a focus on the culture industry chain. The company's programming team will be restructured as a production studio and will implement a product bidding system between broadcast platforms, offering content to all television organizations and platforms. The company also plans to acquire an online video site.
