Ebrun.com, 4/24/12

Yan Qiao, a spokesperson for Alibaba Group's B2C e-commerce site TMall, announced today that TMall had launched its supermarket channel (http://chaoshi.tmall.com) offering service in Hangzhou and Shanghai. Work is underway on similar services for Ningbo, Suzhou, and Wuxi.

The main page of the new supermarket channel displays products in six categories - food and beverages, cooking items (including salt and cooking oil), cosmetics and beauty products, home furnishings and goods, household cleaning products, and mother- and baby-care products. TMall will reportedly be responsible for all deliveries, and guarantees next-day delivery and unconditional returns for all orders.

The delivery information for TMall's supermarket channel states that the service will cover deliveries to all areas of the Shanghai municipality and all urban districts of Hangzhou. Delivery charges - RMB 5 or RMB 10 - will be assessed based on order volume, and free delivery will be available on orders of RMB 88 or more.
