The Beijing News, 4/11/12

At a press conference on April 10, China's State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) revealed that revisions are underway to the Trademark Law that will increase trademark protection and raise fines levied for trademark infringement from the current maximum of RMB 500,000 to RMB 1 mln.

China's Trademark Law was officially put into effect in 1983, and was later revised in 1993 and 2001. The revisions currently under discussion will be circulated for review and comment.
