MIIT Releases 12th Five-Year Plan for Software Industry

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently released its Software and Information Technology Services Industry Development Plans for the 12th Five-Year Plan Period, calling for software and IT service industry revenues to break RMB 4 trln by 2015 - an average annual growth of 24.5% or greater - to account for 25% of the information industry as a whole, as well as for software exports to reach USD 60 bln in value. Under the plan, IT service revenues will surpass RMB 2.5 trln, or more than 60% of total revenues for the software and IT services industry.
The Plans call for more than ten software companies with annual revenues of more than RMB 10 bln to be fostered by 2015, and for three to five enterprises with revenues in the trillions.
During the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015), China's software industry will focus on developing infrastructure software, industrial software and industry solutions, embedded software, data security software and services, information systems integration services, information technology consulting services, digital content processing, service outsourcing, services for emerging information technologies, and integrated circuitry design.
