Samsung to Build Flash Chip Plant in Xi'an

China Business News, 3/26/12

Samsung recently announced that it had selected Xi'an as the site of its new Mainland China flash memory plant. With an initial investment of USD 7 bln, the plant is expected to begin production in late 2013, and will have a capacity of 100,000 chips per month.

According to market research figures from Gartner, China accounted for half of global NAND memory consumption last year, with a total market value of USD 29 bln.
