Yosion Introduces USB Dongle for Apple Devices
Southern Weekly, 3/22/12
Yosion, the Shenzhen-based developers of the "Apple Peel," recently launched the new "Apple Drive," a USB storage dongle which plugs into the power/data serial port on the base of an iPhone handset and allows the handset to directly read movie and music files stored on the drive. Photos taken with the iPhone's built-in camera can be directly copied, cut, or pasted to the drive, allowing users to transfer data without having to connect their devices to their computers or to the iTunes Store. Like traditional USB drives, the "Apple Drive" also features a USB plug, allowing users to connect it directly to their computers to transfer files. The "Apple Drive" is compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Yosion told a reporter for Southern Weekend that the device had simply "cracked" the method Apple uses to restrict access via the serial port, and would not require users to jailbreak their devices. According to Yosion, the device does not infringe upon Apple's legal interests in any way.
Since founding Yosion to sell their "Apple Peel," the Pan brothers have sold more than 20,000 "Apple Peels" and earned more than RMB 1 mln.
