Shanghai Tietong to Slash Broadband Package Pricing
Netease Tech, 3/07/12
China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) subsidiary Shanghai Tietong recently announced that it would lower broadband package pricing considerably. Starting March 8, subscribers in residential compounds covered by Shanghai Tietong's broadband service will be able to sign up for an RMB 790/year broadband package offering 6 Mbps connectivity, or RMB 990/year for 10 Mbps connectivity. The packages had previously been priced at RMB 1,580 and RMB 1,800 per year, respectively. Subscribers will not have to tie their broadband service to fixed-line or mobile phone subscriptions, and will not be required to commit to any minimum purchase. Prices for governmental and enterprise clients will also decrease, in some cases by more than 50%.
